Course Structure & Timeline
The course lasts 3 weeks, with one 2-hour session each week. The course is divided into three levels, with each level being covered each week:
Level 1 Drills - LONG RANGE
In the first week, the focus is on long range combat and mastering basic punches—specifically the jab and cross. By the end of Level 1, you will be able to return to the proper stance after each punch, execute their strikes with correct form, and stay defensively aware, ready for potential counter-attacks.
Level 2 Drills - MID RANGE
During the second week, the focus shifts to mid range combat with hooks and uppercuts, along with key defensive techniques such as slipping and counter-punching. By the end of Level 2, you will be proficient in executing a full range of punches and will have a solid understanding of combining them effectively in dynamic sequences.
Level 3 Drills - COUNTER/ADVANCED
In the final phase, you will experience more complex drills that mimic the pace and intensity of an actual boxing match. The focus is on integrating simultaneous punches and counters, which requires precise footwork, balance, and coordination. By the end of Level 3, you will be equipped to defend, counter, and maintain control throughout fast-paced, challenging drills.
Why Choose Padwork?
Boxing padwork is incredibly fun and highly challenging, especially when led by an experienced pad holder. With a wide variety of drills at your disposal, pad training provides high levels of client interaction, and is suitable for individuals of all skill levels. The intensity can be adjusted depending on the client’s fitness level, making it versatile and accessible. Unlike heavy bag work, which can sometimes lack engagement, padwork requires continuous focus and interaction. The trainer actively encourages the client, challenging them to defend, counter, and improve their technique. This makes pad training an excellent intellectual workout as well as a physical one. Furthermore, padwork comes closest to simulating a real boxing match. It’s not just about strength and speed, but also timing, accuracy, and style. Starting slowly and building up gradually is crucial for mastering technique. Clients can’t get lazy during pad training — the interaction with a skilled pad holder pushes them to maintain focus and improve consistently.
